In 2016, Stephanie Gordon was asked what she would do for a career if she were not a physician and could do anything she wanted. Gordon quickly answered that she would open a “bookstore” in her hometown of McDonough, Ga; a space to simultaneously indulge in one’s great love for books, and beer. Not long after, Stephanie and her husband, David, started looking for the perfect property; deciding that a beautiful 8,000-square-foot historic building located on McDonough’s town square would be the perfect location for, Story on the Square, their bookstore featuring a craft beer and wine bar, Rough Draft.
Approximately 2,000 square feet of the beautiful space is devoted to books for children and adults, along with a growing selection of niche merchandise. Rough Draft, the beer and wine bar actually tucked inside the bookstore, plans to sell a variety of curated wines, craft beers and a small, fresh-daily selection of foods. You will find baked goods in the morning, followed by cheese and meat boards, nuts and olives in the afternoon and evening.
Just above the bookstore, you will find an additional 2,500 square feet dedicated to event spaces, along with a catering kitchen; available to rent for meetings, parties and community gatherings.
Striving to create a community gathering space, Gordon plans to host a wide range of events; author book signings, poetry nights, live music, art shows and most importantly, weekly story time and book clubs for children.
Our prefinished American White Oak, Mist offers a perfect combination of sophistication and natural beauty and can be found throughout the beautiful space.
